AN 18-year-old man charged with causing grievous bodily harm has been committed to stand trial in the National Court.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Paul Puri Nii said yesterday when committing Henry Agiwa from Fuka village in Koroba-Kopiago, Hela, that police evidence was sufficient to make a prima facie case against Agiwa.
He also extended the accused’s bail.
Police alleged that on Sept 5, between 7am and 8am, Agiwa and the victim, Hayden Momia, were at a residence at Ensisi in Port Moresby, drinking alcohol and had an argument.
Agiwa hit Momia on the head with a metal bar causing him to fell down unconscious.
Agiwa allegedly then struck Momia on the back while he was on the ground.
Momia was taken to Pacific International Hospital for treatment and later released.
A report was lodged with the police and Agiwa was arrested and charged.
