The teenager from Vunamami ward one in the Kokopo district, East New Britain, represented the Ralum Country Club and is the challenge’s defending champion.
Sponsored by NGIP Agmark, this was her third tournament win since she started playing in 2019.
“I became interested in playing golf some years back when I used to be a carrier for the golf players,” Martin said.
“I started to show interest and in 2019 I joined the mixed club in Kokopo and took part in several competitions and last year I was lucky enough to be in the Ralum club.”
Martin’s first won two tournaments were at Ralum in 2020 and Madang last year. In Madang she competed in the junior competition.
Martin playing with a women’s handicap of eight scored well over the three rounds at Ralum Country Club to finish ahead of a competitive field including former national representative Kristine Seko (5), Phyona Gangloff (9), Joanne Cholai (9) and Melen Buri (9).
