TELIKOM PNG will donate two computers as Christmas presents to the Bomana minimum prison unit and the female detainees’ wing.
They will come with internet connections to assist Correctional Services officers in their duties.
Telikom chief executive officer Peter Loko and Telikom Foundation chairman Clark Kuliniasi made the commitment yesterday when visiting prisoners at the jail outside Port Moresby.
Loko at every Christmas since 2008 leads Telikom managers to celebrate Christmas with prisoners .
Acting Correctional Services Commissioner Martin Balthasar and Bomana prison Commander, Michael Mondia with senior CS officers joined the lunch and celebration.
The detainees in the male’s minimum prison unit and the female wing had a devotion with their guests. They sung gospel and Christmas songs.
Loko told the detainees “nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes and we have to learn from our mistakes and improve to be better persons in our community and in the country”.
“I grew up in Kaugere settlement and I sold newspapers in the streets of Port Moresby when I was a teenager and with motivation and ambition, I am where I am today,” Loko said.
He encouraged the prisoners to quit bad habits and improve their lives after completing their prison terms.
“My message to you this Christmas is that anything is possible and believe in the Lord and learn to improve on some of the obstacles to become a better person,” Loko said.
Balthasar, Mondia and the prison representative Philip Vaki thanked Loko and his executives for their  visit and generosity in donating computers to the prison.
