Tenza returns for Hunters clash against Pride

THE SP Hunters will aim for their second win in a row when they face hosts Northern Pride in round 12 of Queensland’s Hostplus Cup at Barlow Park in Cairns on Sunday (2.10pm kick-off).
Sunday’s clash is important for both sides, who sit equal on the ladder with three wins apiece so far this season.
Captain Keven Appo’s leadership and work ethic has been consistent for the South Pacific Brewery-sponsored Hunters all season.
Against a Pride outfit that has scored 20-plus points in their last three games, Appo’s defensive efforts will be required as the Hunters chase their fourth win of the season.
In other team news, the Hunters have received a huge boost this week in the form of specialist hooker Wesser Tenza, who returns from an eye injury. Tenza joins the bench with Emmanuel Waine, who one of six Hunters players selected in the Papua New Guinea Kumuls’ squad for next Saturday’s Test match against Fiji.
Head coach Matthew Church said he was looking to build on last week’s win over Souths Logan.
“We played our game last week,” he said.
“If we can do that again on Sunday, we’ll give ourselves every chance to win.”
Church said the focus during training this week had not changed much as they prepared for a strongPride pack.
“It’s important we nullify their middle,” he said.
“Pride have got some big middle forwards, so we need to contain them.”
