PNG LNG Kumuls assistant coach Stanley Tepend says the squad have turned their focus on the last game of the series against the England Knights.
“We have to focus on doing the small things right and not making handling errors,” Tepend said.
“Last Saturday the boys tried hard but errors just kept letting us down. The second game is important for us. We want to win it for the fans and ourselves.”
Tepend said the team had taken the 16-12 loss well but were desperate to even the series.
Tepend said halfback Watson Boas was likely to keep the kicking duties despite missing three conversions against the Knights.
“We trusted Watson to do the kicking and he didn’t have a good day with the boot but we’ll probably stick with him.
“Watson is working on that and hopefully he’s ready to perform on Saturday.”
Tepend said there were no major injury concerns except for the usual soreness and minor bruises and strains from the game in Lae.
“Our young guys will get better after this game. It was their first time and I’m sure they learned a lot and they are disappointed with the loss and want to make up.”
