Thankful to scheme

Letters

I HAVE been reading in the two dailies on views relating to the Government’s school fee loan programme.
People have the right to express their views.
It helps, when reading contrasting views.
I may not have the in-depth knowledge to discuss the future implications of the government’s initiative of higher education loan programme (Help).
To a lay man’s understanding, I’d like to share an experience with problems relating to school fees.
My daughter was selected to go to one of the mission-run universities in 2018.
The fees at that time was too high.
Though I am a teacher, I couldn’t afford the fees.
She stayed out that year and the next.
My daughter re-applied as a non-school leaver and got accepted to the same institution with the same fee structure.
I cannot allow my child to stay out again.
She will be going to the university through the help of the scheme.
I am glad that the government came up with this initiative.
I look forward for my child to apply for the loan.
My savings for the next four years would help her repay the loan.
Right now, I do not have enough money.
As a poor parent, the Government’s initiative is my only hope.
