Policy disappoints poor folks

Letters

APART from the daily newspapers, we read and hear about the Tuition Fee Free (TFF) funds not reaching the schools on time.
At least the former O’Neill government did something to help poor parents.
I am proud to say that the PNC government was the government for poor people.
Many might think that remote parts of Papua New Guinea is similar to cities and towns but that is not true.
The Government’s decision to change the TFF policy so parents could pay half of their children’s school fee has left some feeling hopeless.
The Government did not give time for struggling parents to look for school fees.
Leaders should know that they represent people and not their wives, businesses, tribes and friends.
We admire the PNC government for it’s fast delivery in services.
We saw great changes within the seven years period.
The Government needs to plan before implementing policies, such as the TFF fund, and not burden hard working citizens.

  • From a personal point of view, most decisions done by the present government is upon impulse.A recent statement by Marape that it’s up to the students to register and those on HECAE and AES to continue is quite contradictory to the HELP policy.
There should have been a research prior to such changes..
Maybe to win favor for 2022.
