IMMIGRATION Minister Petrus Thomas has promised to help the deported Lutheran missionaries from the United States return to the country.
He was responding to Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas who said the Lutheran missionaries were prevented from returning to the country by the PNG embassy officers in the US.
“I’ll find out why these missionaries can’t come. I’ll make sure they return to continue their missionary work,” he said.
“PNG need missionaries as they work in places where Government services are not available.”
But he warned that the missionaries now back in the US had not cooperated with Immigration Officers.
“When there is a deportation order for them while still here, we tell them to come and we solve it administratively. But the missionaries did not listen to us.
“If they are overseas and hard to return then I will make sure that they are cleared so they return and to continue their good work.”
