Threat to freedom of speech

THE recent move by NICTA and the national government to control mobile phone sim cards is a slap on the face for citizens of this country. Under the United Nations Convention on Human Rights everyone has the right to freedom of speech and this should not be restricted or by anybody or let alone a government which represents its peoples interest. In most countries around the world freedom of speech is restricted for many different reasons according to their political, social, religious and geographical aspects. Papua New Guinea is a Christian country and problems which are been faced by other countries cannot be viewed by the same standards. Theirs is totally different from ours. If cybercrime is the reason then the government and NICTA should work with other relevant state agencies and tie up the loop holes rather than try to monitor my sim card.
