POLICE in East Sepik have reported three killings in the province over the last three weeks.
Police commander Supt Albert Beli yesterday said those deceased included a female who was assaulted by 10 males.
He said Jacinta Walter was allegedly assaulted by 10 men on Sunday at a village in Yangoru at around 12.30pm.
Supt Beli said information was sketchy but police believed it was out of jealousy.
He said the suspects were yet to be picked up by police and charged with wilful murder.
Also, in Yangoru, Supt Beli reported the death of a man wanted by police for some time.
He said Libet Marasimba and others blocked a section of the road at Maringei village and tried to rob vehicles on Dec 21.
Supt Beli said police arrived at the scene and shot Marasimba while he was trying to attack innocent motorists.
Police also reported the killing of a 42-year-old male from Woginara, Dagua, last Wednesday.
Supt Beli said three suspects allegedly used bush knives and an axe to murder the man.
A hit-and-run accident was reported at Yarapi, outside Wewak town, on New Year’s Day, he said.
Supt Beli said the driver was locked up at the Wewak station.
