MEMBER for Pomio Paul Tiensten is determined to work closely with other elected members in the New Guinea Islands region for the sake of the

people.

He joined East New Britain Governor Ereman ToBaining, Deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion and Gazelle MP Malakai Tabar in a reconciliation ceremony at Kokopo on Tuesday.

During the second provincial assembly meeting at the Vunapope conference centre, Pomio’s representative Camilus Tati brought him to meet

ToBaining and acting provincial administrator Wilson Matava.

The ceremony was witnessed by provincial executive council members, public servants, local level government presidents and people.

The reconciliation ceremony was organised because people in the region think that Tiensten had been in the past years

failed to connect with the other MPs.

The people of Pomio were happy to bring their MP to the provincial assembly.

ToBaining said it was time to work together as he welcomed Tiensten to the assembly.

Tiensten was sworn into

the provincial assembly by provincial magistrate Regget Marum.

Chairman of the Rabaul council of churches Rev Nakikus Bellie led the reconciliation ceremony and reminded the  members that complete reconciliation and restoration must be made among the leaders and God.

Tiensten urged leaders to restore unity in the province.

“Let the bygones be bygones and Bellie’s advice sets the scene for us leaders,” he said.

“I want to offer myself to the running of the province and provide assistance as far as I can offer to East New Britain to support the governor and other national leaders.

“I am back to assist and

be a player in East New Britain.”
