PRIME Minister James Marape was raised in the church and with his love for God and country, time had come for a change for him to lead his country, says Hagen MP William Duma, pictured.
“Marape is the son of a pastor,” he said.
“He was raised in the church and has very credible work ethics.
“I watched him as a young MP who fought for his people and now they (Hela) are a province of their own. And I believe that with this type of background, Marape will do the right thing.”
Duma warned Marape that the role of a prime minister came with its own challenges.
But he has confidence in his leadership and knows that Marape will do the right thing for the people of PNG.
Meanwhile Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch said forcing the resignation of Peter O’Neill “gives people of PNG comfort that our members of parliament truly understand the hardships our people are going through”.
He said what was needed as a prime minister and a team that would do its best to deliver on the promises of “better economic management, restoring confidence into our system of government, committing itself to improving law and order and reforming and resetting service delivery to our people”.
“I thank the public in Port Moresby today for keeping calm and following the important event take place in Parliament.”
