A MURDER suspect who allegedly killed a 40-year-old-man with a bush knife in a dispute over K100 in Port Moresby on Jan 15, had his case adjourned yesterday to March 31 by the Waigani committal court.
Magistrate Tracy Ganaii said the adjournment would allow police to complete their hand-up brief.
Moses Wai, 42, from Tari in Hela, is charged with the wilful murder of Solomon Tolvita at the 9-Mile settlement. He was remanded.
Wai was alleged to have slashed Tolvita twice on the head from behind with a bush knife because he delayed payment of a K100 he had borrowed from him last year.
It was alleged that Tolvita, of Kukipi in Malalaua, Gulf had borrowed the money but could not repay him because he was unemployed. He, however, promised to repay Wai when he returned from work in Wewak where he was recently offered employment as a truck driver by a construction company.
Wai allegedly refused to listen and demanded that he returned his K100 with interest. Wai then allegedly killed him when he saw him walking home.
Tolvita collapsed and died but Wai allegedly continued slashing him over the face.
The matter was reported to police and Wai was arrested and charged.
