FIFTY Special Agriculture Business Lease (SABL) titles have been recommended for cancellation with the Registrar of Titles in the Department of Lands and Physical Planning.
Minister Justin Tkatchenko said seven out of the 50 had already been issued notices for cancellation, and 43 were still being processed.
He said 34 SABL titles were cancelled after the landowners surrendered them to the State.
“We are working on the SABLs that have got files. Some other files have been found. So it’s been a process of elimination as we go along with the help of the scanning team in the archives room who have also found some of these files,” Tkatchenko said.
He said some files were still missing.
“There are files still missing because they have been corrupted, because people don’t want us to find them as they have something to hide,” he said.
“That’s why we are correcting this processes by scanning every single documentation in every land file, title files and its going to take a couple of years.”
He said there were still about half a dozen files missing and the department has to create new files and get all the necessary information possible.
