Tkatchenko Nines postponed due to virus

THE Justin Tkatchenko Nines rugby league tournament has been postponed indefinitely as a precautionary measure amid the global coronavirus pandemic, says sponsor and Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko.
“The coronavirus is now threatening our shores, we have no coordination to fight the case,” Tkatchenko said yesterday. “The virus is going around the world, pulling down countries’ economies and posing health threats.
“The Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation has given notice that they would not open their facilities over the next 30 days in an effort to stop gatherings in the country. After discussions, the tournament and volleyball competitions that we are running in the electorate have been deferred until further notice.”
Meanwhile, Tkatchenko urged teams to continue training to keep fit and healthy.
