Toea’s demise unfortunate

Letters

IT was so unfortunate to hear and read the omission of Toea Wisil from the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the Gold Cost.
There are mixed opinions in the public arena about Toea’s case; some people criticise Tony Green and others support his decision to exclude Toea from the Games team.
Even during our natural disaster we still talk about her and her exclusion from the Commonwealth Games because we love her and take her as everyone’s daughter. She is our country’s pride.
The country has watched her amazing growth from a humble, simple village girl in Jiwaka to become the heartbeat of eight million people.
But it is so sad to see her fall. Was it pride? Arrogance?
She should remember that millions of young people follow her footprints. She has been a role model for thousands of young girls.
She has been a celebrity.
A hero.
Now we hear that her attitude has changed. Why?
Toea is in her 30s and it’s not easy for someone at her age to remain competitive on the world stage.
