THE government is determined to implement the Finance Inquiry report, Chief Secretary Manasupe Zurenuoc said yesterday.
But Zurenuoc said that would only be “after all the legality is sorted out”.
He was responding to concerns raised by Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru that public servants were not implementing government policies like the findings of the Finance Inquiry.
Zurenuoc, however, said the bid to implement the findings was stopped by a court injunction by one of the parties.
“The inquiry report has been completed but its recommendations could not be implemented because of the court order.
“Furthermore more, this matter went before the courts again but the judge presiding over the case has retired.
“This has meant going back to square one, starting all over again,” Zurenuoc said.
“But let me assure you that we will take
the necessary action on the inquiry findings when all this is sorted out.”
