Top cop arrested

A POLICE station commander in East Sepik has been arrested and charged by the traffic police for negligent driving causing an accident.
Provincial police commander Supt Albert Beli said Maprik police station commander Insp Damien Linus was charged on Wednesday.
Beli said Linus allegedly drove a police vehicle at Maprik town and crashed into an open back Toyota land cruiser causing the death of a man on Nov 15.
Afo Yamagu, from Eastern Highlands, was seated at the back of the vehicle when he was thrown out on impact when the vehicle Linus was driving crashed into the back of the other vehicle.
Yamagu was taken to Wewak General Hospital but died of his injuries.
Beli said Linus was charged under section 338 (2) of the Criminal Code Act, Chapter 262.
