Top cop warns officers to avoid being compromised after suspending three

ASSISTANT Commissioner of Police (ACP) border command Peter Philip is warning police officers to avoid being compromised when carrying out their roles.
The warning came on Monday following the suspension of three officers attached to the Yangoru station.
They are the Yangoru station commander, a senior constable and a CID officer.
ACP Philip said the three were suspended for 21 days with full pay.
He said the station commander failed to control his senior constable when an incident happened in a village last month.
On Boxing Day, a young male was allegedly killed at Kwahuie in Yangoru. ACP Philip said four suspects were detained following the incident.
He said the commander failed to submit a report on the incident.
“It was incompetency on his part as the station commander for Yangoru so he has to be suspended,” ACP Philip said.
“He failed to provide the major incident brief and record of interview.
A senior constable from the station was also suspended because he tried to protect his son, who was allegedly involved in the same incident.
The senior constable was also found to have used a fake identity when he joined the police.
“The third is a CID, who allegedly locked up four suspects, including a juvenile, and travelled to his province in the Highlands without informing anyone, including the provincial commander Supt Albert Beli.
ACP Philip said the four suspects were locked up for almost two weeks.

  • Stop suspending with Pay, this is no deterrent, suspend them WITHOUT PAY and you will see policeman changing thier attitudes
