MORE than 2500 attendees and 40 high-level speakers took part in a two-day forum organised by the Apec Business Advisory Council (Abac) of PNG and Chinese Taipei last week.
Speakers at the Abac Digital Innovation Forum included former president of Estonia Toomas Hendrick Ilves, founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Skype Geoffrey Prentice as well as the world’s first android citizen, Sophia.
The purpose of the event was to provide an opportunity for high-calibre speakers, moderators and panelists from around the world to talk about and discuss all things related to digital innovation, new technologies and digital futures.
Opening remarks were provided by Abac PNG member and chairman of policy and secretariat Wayne Golding.
Golding expressed his excitement in working with co-host partner Abac Chinese Taipei.
He thanked attendees, speakers, media and event organisers for their support and hard work in making this event a reality.
Abac chairman and ABAC PNG member David Toua spoke at the event about the need for greater trade partnerships between Apec economies.
He said there was a need for economies, including PNG, to embrace the digital future.
