A new supermarket that has opened in Kundiawa aims to create job opportunities, says owner Jason Lin.
The new double-storey HTK Trading Supermarket is the latest addition to the small Chimbu capital.
“I’m here not only to make money but create job opportunities for young people,” Lin said.
“I also want to contribute towards the development of this wonderful province.”
He vowed to provide the best for Kundiawa and gradually expand to other parts of the province.
Lin thanked locally-owned Mendikwae Group of Companies for allocating land for the supermarket.
“I am proud to stand before you to see this new shopping complex opened for the people of Chimbu,” he said.
“I want you to have greater choices for your hard-earned money.”
HTK public relations officer John Polly said 90 per cent of employees would be locals.
“When we do this, we are solving unemployment problems in the country,” he said.
“HTK Trading believes in this and will employ many young school leavers without jobs in Kundiawa.”
