PORT Moresby Rugby Football League ladder leaders Kone Tigers are aiming to hand Paga Panthers their first loss of the season in their top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.
Both sides are unbeaten heading into the round-seven fixture on oval two of the Oil Search National Football Stadium (2.30pm kick-off).
Paga, led by halves Billy Opa and Peter Pagali, will be looking to get the edge over the Tigers in the premier division.
In the other matches, Dobo Warriors face Butterflies today (3.30pm) before Magani take on Hanuabada Hawks (12.30pm), Tarangau play Souths (1.40pm) and West meet Defence (3.30pm) tomorrow. On Sunday, Port Moresby North-East’s Brothers play Hohola Flies (1.10pm) before the match of the round between Paga and Tigers.
Meanwhile, the league has warned clubs to register their players and pay the standard fee of K50 per person.
League football operations manager and administrator Meke Maino issued the warning after finding out that the majority of players had yet to register.
“One issue is about what we’re going to do about the player registration now,” he said.
“The registration deadline was extended on the understanding that we were going to get confirmation from the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League on whether to reduce the fee.
“But nothing has come yet so we’re still waiting on the players to register and pay.
“It is important that the players complete their registration to avoid any complications or disagreements during the season.”
Maino said talks were underway with the stadium management on the return of crowds with a decision expected in the coming weeks.
