Toti see off fast-finishing Wawens

TOTI City continued their winning run with a 3-2 victory over Morobe Wawens in a Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd National Soccer League Northern Conference washout game yesterday.
The match at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae, Morobe, was an evenly-contested affair.
Toti star Nigel Dabinyaba scored the first of a brace in the ninth minute.
City picked up his second goal in the 15th minute as the defending NSL champions looked set to run away with the mid-week clash.
A big score was on cards when Matthew David banked his side’s third, however Wawens kept their composure to register a goal through the reliable Jason Farrock to trail 3-1 at halftime.
The second half was a contrast of game plans as City seemed content to cruise and protect their lead while Wawens dove in looking to test the Northern Conference leaders at every opportunity.
The City defence showed signs of coming undone when Farrock was fouled resulting in a direct penalty which Moses Kamakeng slotted past City goalkeeper Mattheson Nasa to narrow the margin to 3-2 in the 82nd minute. City played out the reamining minutes to come away with a deserved win based primarily on their first half display.
City take on Lawaiden and Wawens face Tusbab Stallions in a washout double-header on Saturday in Lae. Toti will play their seventh and final match of the first round while Wawens are set to play their sixth game.
