Vabukori side backed for Arafura Games

FOURTHEEN-time national and two-time Arafura Games champions Vaburkori Amateur Volleyball Association (VAVA) recieved K10,000 from 2 Fast Motors Ltd to support their participation at the Darwin event in May.
VAVA are preparing to defend the gold medal at the Arafura Games with 2 Fast Motors heeding a call for sponsorship from association that has dominated national volleyball since the early 2000s.
VAVA claimed the gold at the 2009 and 2011 Arafura Games.
Association president Dai Geno Vanua said the used car firm was the first company to come on board.
“We need about K100,000 to travel to Darwin and we’re appealing to businesses in Port Moresby and PNG to support us to defend the title and make it number three for the country in Darwin,” Vanua said.
2 Fast Motors’ chief executive Billy Lin aid he was proud to support a champion team like VAVA and he was confident they would not let the country down.
Lin called on MPs, as well as the state, to help the team travel to Darwin as the same athletes would then PNG at the Pacific Games.
