RESIDENTS of Wau township Seven-Block in Morobe are under surveillance since swab-sampling and contact-tracing started last Monday.
Bulolo health and police personnel are conducting the sampling and tracing after being told that a woman identified with Covid-19 in Goroka, travelled out from Wau.
Northern-end asst state of emergency controller Asst Comm of Police (ACP) Peter Guinness said the Bulolo health officers were working on the case.
“The movement and travel history of the woman is unclear,” he said.
“It was alleged that she travelled from Wau to Lae and transited at Salamanda.”
ACP Guinness said according to Angau Memorial Hospital medical services director Dr Lincoln Menda, health officers in Lae moved to Salamanda Street, contained the family that she came in contact with during her transit and conducted swab sampling.
The family is under surveillance while awaiting test results.
ACP Guinness said to put Wau under lockdown, the instruction would have to come from SOE controller David Manning, based on the result of swab-sampling.
Meanwhile, Bulolo chief executive officer Tae Gwambelek confirmed that doctors and Wau-Bulolo health workers moved into Seven-Block after a special meeting on Sunday by the district emergency committee.
