MALAYSIA is famous not only for its diverse cultures, great shopping, beautiful beaches and hill resorts, friendly people and nightlife but thanks to its multi-racial society, a great variety of food as well.

Nasilemak (coconut-flavoured rice with spicy meats, roasted peanuts and anchovies), satay (barbecued marinated meats with dip), char koayteow (fried flat noodles), roti canai (flatbread), bakkutteh (a strongly-flavoured pork broth) and curry laksa (noodles in curry) are just a few of the classic items that have become favourites in many parts of the world.

However, one does not need to fly seven hours out of Port Moresby to get a taste of it.

On Oct 25, some of the Malay, Chinese and Indian favourites will be available at a food fair at the Vision City mall in Port Moresby.

Those planning to visit the fair, which starts at 10am and ends at 2pm at Food Junction, are advised to be there early as the food tends to be gobbled up quickly.

The Malaysian Association of PNG, which is organising the event, will donate 10% of the proceeds to charity.

Purchases will be done only with coupons which are now available from members of the association and at Food Junction on the day.
