Transport staff attend first aid training

THE management and staff of the Milne Bay Transport Authority (MBPTA) attended first aid training this week.
It was offered by Red Cross first aid instructor Desmond Max through the recent commercial Red Cross first aid training prrogramme.
MBPTA manager Michael Kape and his 11 staff learnt first aid basics over two days.
Kape was impressed by the training and suggested a first aid unit be established within MBPTA so the officers who attended the training could use the techniques learnt if they needed to.
MBPTA was the first organisation in the province to sponsor and attend the training this year.
Milne Bay Red Cross vice-chairman Patricia Mark said MBPTA’s work environment was prone to accidents so the training was vital and timely.
The participants who completed the training and passed the required 80 per cent pass mark during written examination would be awarded a first aid certificate recognised by the PNG national training council and valid for three years, with annual revalidation encouraged.
