BASKETBALL fans are expected to know the players that made the national squad when the final selection trials begin today at the Hohola basketball courts and the Sir John Guise stadium.
Basketball Federation of PNG president Chey Scovell said the trials would end on Sunday.
“The trials will involve squad members to go through similar tests (as per constitution) as well as the drills and skills, some of which they were held in our first trials early this year,” he said.
He added that selectors would be using some running drills and scrimmage to make their final assessment.
“It is hoped that there will be a clear consent on the final selection hence all the work toward standardising many of the skills and trial processes,” Scovell said.
The Sprite three-on-three competition will be held at the Hohola basketball courts on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Capital Basketball League has cancelled its games at the courts to cater for the trials to take place to select the PNG men’s and women’s squads for the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia starting in August.
The federation general secretary Major Sere Kala, who is also the vice-president of CBL said yesterday that the courts would be occupied by the national representatives.
