Mining Minister Johnson Tuke says the ministry must be united to serve the interests of the people.
He said this at the dedication service of the ministry yesterday at the Rev Sione Kami Memorial church in Port Moresby.
The theme of the service was “Live to Serve”.
Tuke said his vision for the ministry was to unite all sections and agencies to serve the country’s people.
He said those working in the ministry must ensure better management of the people’s mineral wealth.
“We are momentarily custodians of the wealth that belongs to our people,” Tuke said.
“We are entrusted to look after what belongs to the people.
“Let’s manage it very well.”
Mineral Resources Authority managing director Philip Samar commended Tuke for putting together the dedication service.
Other speakers were Mineral Policy and Geohazards Management Secretary Harry Kore and Credit Corporation Group chief executive Peter Aitsi on behalf of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The service was led by Pastor Andrew Lukale and the Adventist Family Singers.
