THE Tusbab Stallions resumed training this week with health restrictions from the Madang-based Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League club’s administration.
Club patron Conrad Wadunah told The National that this was the first time for players to get back to training after almost two months due the nationwide state of emergency (SOE) amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The team started training on Monday after some time away from the game,” he said.
“It’s a little slow to get the players back in training, the enthusiasm by players is still not up there yet but they are slowly returning.
“Our technical staff called training last week but only a handful of players took part.
“After the suspension of the season, we had to ensure that players were following the SOE restrictions.
“We are not only concern about football but building good citizens, so staying away from training gives the players the view that we should all abide the restrictions.
“There was no training during the height of the SOE as we would like to have all players remain with their families.
“Covid-19 is a new pandemic and to avoid risks, players were asked to remain at home.”
Wadunah said while there was still a decision to be made on the resumption of football in the country, the club would continue to observe the restrictions on social distancing and gatherings.
