Tusbab seeking sponsors to help Madang players

Despite not having any backing from major sponsor, the Tusbab Stallions remain intact as the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League resume training this week.
Stallions patron Conrad Wadunah told The National that the team were in talks to secure sponsorship, however, difficulties brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic were proving costly for the Madang based side.
“We do not have corporate backing, the last corporate organisation we were negotiating with was not able to come on board due to the difficulty the company was facing amid the pandemic,” he said.
“The team have been mobilising this week, now that some of the SOE orders have been eased.
“Our technical team are doing their best to provide basics such as face masks and ensure that players adhere to the state of emergency protocols.
“We do not have any movement of players out of the team except Nigel Malagian to Lae City.
“All our players are slowly picking up.
“One of our players, Micheal Saun, went to Lae to be with his family during the Covid-19 period.
“Otherwise, the team are intact but need to pick up on training only.
“We hope that a corporate partner can come on board to support the team and our bunch of young talents.”
Tusbab are fourth on the ladder with the season still suspended.

  • I think a name change would easily garner corporate sponsorship. It is the only representative football team from Madang province playing in NSL so it should bear a name resembling the beautiful province. Look at Lae City FC, their name change has brought more public support and corporate sponsorship. If you follow English premier league then it’s easier to understand why people are passionate about their clubs because its represent them, their culture, their society, their beliefs and ambitions. Anyway this are just my thoughts. I wish the club the very best in the NSL season when it resumes.
