Tvet has created more scholarships for youths, says official

YOUTHS in Port Moresby must take ownership of the city, says NCD technical and vocational education and training (Tvet) coordinator Jacqueline Nen.
Nen said this was one of the reasons behind the support given in terms of sponsorship under NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
She said this during the NCD Tvet and student financial assistance programmes (SFAP) 2023 induction session for students attending different schools in Port Moresby last week.
She said NCD Tvet was created more scholarship, it has expanded to mentoring, internship, job ready programmes and labour mobility programmes.
“The labour mobility programme aimed at exporting skilled labour to Australia and New Zealand where students who meet the necessary requirements will go out of PNG to work and bring back for their families,” she said.
Mapex Training Institute students under the Tvet scholarship programmes were pleased with the effort, expressing that this is an opportunity that most students would want in other institutions.
NCDC also has 1,000 Chinese scholarship and another 1,000 Indian government scholarship for Tvet students to go study in these two countries.
The induction was done for all the schools that receive funding under the Governor Parkop Tvet sponsorship programme.
About 20 schools in NCD had their students attend this programme.
