TWO people were murdered and 35 houses were razed in Angoram during the Christmas holidays, East Sepik commander Supt Albert Beli says.
“Two arsonists have surrendered to the police,” he added.
He said two people were murdered in a village in Angoram by Kambaramba villagers and in retaliation the families of the deceased burnt down the houses belonging to innocent people.
“The villagers must behave and not create new problems.
“Let the police investigate and make arrests.”
Supt Beli said most of the crimes reported in the province were in Angoram and Wewak.
“Wewak police have arrested several people involved in burning down two houses at the back of the Evangelical Brotherhood Church.
“Drunkards who burnt down two houses near the church and attacked a policeman and his family in Nuigo have been arrested.
“The festive season crime-prevention operations will continue until Sunday,” he added.
