TWO wanted criminals were caught during the Christmas and New Year police operations in East Sepik province.
Thompson Tikele was wanted by police for a series of robberies, burglary and theft reported last year.
The other, Leo Jekkis, was wanted for a bench warrant.
Acting provincial police commander Insp Charles Parinjo said another wanted criminal, Kevin Bukka, was captured just before Christmas.
He said police were still looking for two other criminals who have
been terrorising and stealing from businesses and individuals in Wewak.
Insp Parinjo said Bukka, Tikele and the two others on the run were wanted for robberies and burglaries at InterOil, Starships, Waiyu Ltd, Origin Gas, Dekenai and the attack on Malaysians on Kreer Heights last year.
Bukka was shot on the ankle and wounded
by police  just after he had robbed a beer shop in Kreer last December.
Insp Parinjo, who led the operations, found Tikele drinking in Boram compound and captured him with the help of his task force members.
He thanked all businesses and individuals who supported the police operations during the festive season.
