UBS inquiry, a waste of money

Letters

THE dismissal of charges relating to the much-publicised K3 billion UBS loan obtained by the government of former prime minister Peter O’Neill is a big victory for Papua New Guinea.
This is an indication of a workable judicial system – court rulings are made in the best interest of our country.
The scandal involving the former government, which made news headlines, can now be put to rest.
However, the sad part that many are asking is: Why did the State used so much money as legal bills to spearhead the Commission of Inquiry report that has resulted in a failed outcome?
Those funds could have been used to build several CS facilities around the country to free up space at our now-congested prisons.
And, there is a long list of so many other worthwhile things that the Government would done using that money.
