PAPUA New Guinea Customs officers seized a 40ft cargo container loaded with undeclared goods yesterday.
The container was loaded with plants, medicine and boxes of lollies.
Only a few declared items were found in the routine inspection at Port Moresby’s wharf.
The importer submitted genuine Customs entry forms but failed  to declare all the container’s contents.
Customs Commissioner Gary Juffa said the importer, of Chinese origin, would be charged and fined under Customs Act (1951) section 153 (a) (e) for providing false information with the intention of evading duty that is payable to the State.
Mr Juffa, who witnessed the inspection of the container, said he was pleased with the professionalism displayed by his officers in the fight against smugglers.
