Understand MVIL’s role

Letters

MOTOR Vehicle Insurance Ltd (MVIL) is not responsible for regulating PMV fares nor is it mandated to penalise PMVs that overcharge customers.
There is still a deep misunderstanding of the core functions of MVIL by the public, therefore, it is only better we clarify our main functions.
Firstly, MVIL is responsible for providing compulsory third party (CTP) insurance to motor vehicle owners.
The CTP insurance is the premium paid when vehicle owners register their vehicles, equipment or machineries.
Secondly, MVIL is responsible for receiving claims and providing compensation to people injured or for lives lost in motor vehicle accidents.
Claims are paid for registered vehicles only.
Finally, as a secondary function, MVIL conducts awareness to educate the public on road safety and motorists about safe driving practices to prevent accidents and reduce the suffering caused by the accidents.
