Uni building K2mil campus

Education

THE University of Goroka (UOG) will provide technical, vocational, agriculture and fisheries training for students in the Southern region, chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb says.
Sukwianomb said during the ground-breaking ceremony for a K2 million campus in Port Moresby last Friday that the facility would provide further education for graduates in tourism and hospitality, early childhood education and capacity building for schools and administrator training programmes.
“Ours will be mostly in social sciences, in-service for primary school and secondary school teachers and administrator training,” Sukwianomb said.
The campus will offer post graduate diploma in education for university graduates who need teaching qualifications. It includes a degree programme up to masters and PhD level.
Construction of the campus will take between 12 and 15 months.
“We want to be a partner in this exercise like other university campuses by offering further opportunities to Papua New Guineans to further their studies,” Sukwianomb said. The university has centres in Chimbu, Western Highlands, Kimbe, Northern, National Capital District, Southern Highlands and two campuses in Enga and East Sepik.
