University of Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (UPNGRFL) chairman Sandis Tsaka Jr says he is satisfied with his women’s, U20 and the A-grade sides following their display at the recent Southern Zone trials.
Despite having only four players — two each in the UPNGRFL U20 and A-grade sides — selected for the Southern Zone teams, Tsaka praised his players for competing well throughout the trials.
“They soaked in the experience as much as possible,” he said.
Tsaka, a final-year environmental science student, said teams from the Port Moresby Business College and the main campus competed in the UPNGRFL.
“This was the first year for the U20 and women’s sides to compete in the trials,” Tsaka said.
“We’ll come back better next year. The girls were delighted to be part of the trials.
“We can still improvement.
“We came this far without a sponsor, so I am speechless about the effort put in by my players.”
