THE PNG Communication Workers Union wants a roundtable discussion with Telikom PNG Ltd’s management and board to settle their case out of court.
Union president Nug Mamtirin said on Friday that the “spill and fill” policy introduced by Telikom in 2015, resulted in a mass termination of more than 300 employees.
Mamtirin said a “Nov 12 Supreme Court decision had dismissed the slip rule application” filed by Telikom PNG against its former employees and the union.
“There is no need to continue with new proceedings or appeal this case anymore,” he said.
“All we are asking is for the management and board to resolve this case amicably at a roundtable.
Mamtirin said that the issue had dragged on for about six years and many of its members under the spill and fill’ forced redundancy had died, and their families were also affected.
