University delivers classes online

CLASSES have been delivered online to Divine Word University (DWU) students to ensure their education is not disrupted by the 14-day state of emergency lockdown due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, an official says.
DWU deputy president Prof Fr Philip Gibbs said the university was continuing to respond to the government’s directives and recommendations from their own committees.
Fr Philip said the committees within the faculty of medicine and health sciences had been meeting regularly since March 13, and had led in awareness, including setting up information boards at the university campus.
“They contribute to a steering committee chaired by myself,” he said.
“Our DWU plan has five levels of threat ranging from green, through yellow, orange one, orange two and red.”
Fr Philip said with the one positive case in the country, DWU officially fit in the yellow zone, however, following the SOE announcement, the level was raised to orange at DWU.
He said that had resulted in the university suspending all face-to-face lectures and academic engagements and using online means such as the Moodle learning platform to ensure students continue their education.
