MOROBE students at University of Technology are spending their holiday to conduct behavioural and educational awareness at secondary schools in the province.
Unitech’s Morobe student’s president Ananias Kawasa said this was part of their community engagement this semester break and it was themed “Reach out & make a difference”.
They started at Bugandi on Wednesday and will be at Markham Valley Secondary school today. Kawasa said they will go to Malahang Tech and Bumayong Secondary next week. He said the awareness was based on two objectives – developing human resources and ensuring zero dropouts in future.
“We are targeting those secondary schools with a lot of administrative and student-disciplinary issues,” he explained
“We are educating students on importance of education, and how they can guard it well.
“Doing little things right builds you up to be a leader. You are not just getting an education for yourselves, but to contribute to the province and country’s development aspirations.”
Kawasa said they planned to conduct similar awareness with more emphasis on social issues in the villages.
