Unpopular decisions needed to save PNG

Letters

PAPUA New Guinea needs to seriously consider its security, welfare and the urge to live in peace and harmony.
PNG must address increasing corruption, evil, lawlessness, mass killings and no respect for the rule of law.
There is also the need to address land grabbing, marginalised ethnic groups, littering, betel nut spittle, illegal drugs, homebrew, gender violence, vulgar swearing, quality education, inadequate development in rural districts and urban migration, lack of employment and housing.
PNG should not blame our politicians!
We, the good citizens, recruited the MPs by voting them in! PNG should vote more good MPs into Parliament in 2027.
To fix the issues, PNG needs to make hard, unpopular decisions for the sake of our beloved country!
I say Parliament should ratify the United Nations Referendum on Bougainville now and let Bougainville assume independence from PNG on Sept 16, 2024. PNG will save a lot of monies.
And PNG should also give autonomous status to Enga, Hela, Southern Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Chimbu, Western Highlands, Central, Motu-Koita, East New Britain, New Ireland, Manus, Madang and others on Sept 16, 2024 for the very same reason.
PNG should also increase its disciplinary forces three-fold in all autonomous provinces with proper housing and logistic support.
If PNG does not address these issues now, the country will go to the dogs.
That would be the pathway to becoming a failed state and/or a banana republic which would lead to chaos, anarchy and revolution.
PNG should either move the capital to Arona Valley as was originally planned during Independence or have four national capitals in our four regions due to our cultural diversity and rugged terrains.
There should be permanent provincial border checkpoints for our land, sea and air ports of call.
Freedom of movement is still cherished but it should be a qualified right to travel between autonomous provincial boundaries.
A visa is issued upon approval of your application from the autonomous government.
You will need a valid NID card, a valid passport, and some kind of visa to travel between the autonomous boundaries.
This will ensure law-enforcing agencies effectively monitor trans-national crimes, gun smuggling, ammunition smuggling, illegal drugs and monitor the movement of criminals.
These approaches will create a conducive environment for all to live in peace and harmony.
