THE Air Niugini Cargo Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker corporate team competition completed game seven on Wednesday with upsets the order of the night.
First up at the Lamana Q club fourth-placed Lamana 2 beat second-placed DKS Snipers 4-3.
Lamana 2 looked to be running away with the match after winning the first three singles thanks to good wins for Poliap Pokanau, Noel Ramos and Joey Chan but Snipers’ best on the night Jackson Ng again show cased his talent by winning his single 2-0 against Lamana 2’s Lasark Joseph.
Then Snipers Ikupu Ovia recorded a 2-0 win over a rusty Bob Keimelo setting up a big finish in the doubles, and after Snipers pairing of PNG women’s No.1 Geua John and Jojo Ng evened the match 3-3 it was up to Joseph to make amends in the doubles along with Lamana 2 skipper Noel Ramos.
Ramos and Joseph did not disappoint winning 2-1 to bank the competition points.
In the other games at the Aviat Club, AM Top Shooters faced off against big improvers Tourism PNG Players.
Players got off to a slow start losing their first two singles before going on to win the next four games to win the match 4-3.
Top Shooters’ best was Clyde Palmah while Vani Toka was best for the Players.
Over at the Port Moresby Country Club, last placed and winless thus far Lamana 1 finally broke the egg upsetting first-placed Nings Agencies Prime Movers 4-3.
Lamana 1 captain Ralph Kaina found form to claim his team’s best player award and opposing skiper Danny Earles was judged as Prime Movers’ best on the night.
Standings: Top 4 – Prime Flyers 15, Players 15, Snipers 12, Lamana (2) 12.
