CENTRAL’S Tubusereia village will celebrate Independence with a volleyball tournament after a K50,000 commitment by Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo, according to an official.
Fairfax Volleyball general secretary Ezekiel Vene said the sponsorship would cover prize money and payments for officials and organisers. “We want to thank Isoaimo for supporting for the tournament which will be held from Monday to Thursday,” he said.
“The tournament is the first of its kind.
“We’ve never hosted an Independence tournament and it’s good that we are introducing it.
“The tournament will be played in the men’s and women’s divisions. We are looking at more than 30 teams for each division.
“The tournament is open to teams from the National Capital District and Central.
“Interested teams can get a form from us and we’ll give them the account details to register and pay.
“It’s an open tournament so national representative players are also allowed to participate.
“It’s about getting families together, uniting our communities and promoting harmony while commemorating the country’s 45 years of Independence.”
He said interested teams could contact him on 721 8 2 544 for more details.
