VISION City Mega Mall welcomes Range View’s commercial and residential project and proposed Chinatown, saying they will provide more opportunities for business and retailers in the city.
General manager Anderson Ting told The National that both were great development ideas in showcasing the country’s prosperity and development to the world.
“In terms of business, as a mall operator with humble operating experience in PNG, they will be able to provide more opportunities to aspiring businesses and retailers that we have been unable to support due to limited space,” he said.
“I am glad they are able to complete it ahead of us in regards to our planned phase three and four of the remaining development for Vision City.”
Ting said phase three would be a single or twin commercial building block for offices and phase four would consist of residential apartments, all interlinking the current mega mall’s old wing and new wing.
“It is understood that competition is inevitable in every business, hence I do welcome them with open arms,” he said.
The K296 million commercial and residential project, Range View Precinct, is being constructed opposite Vision City in Waigani.
The shareholders are Nambawan Super Ltd (56.72 per cent), National Capital District Commission (12.76 per cent) and Lamana Development Ltd (30.52 per cent). The property, will feature:
lTwo commercial buildings on more than 10,000 square metres, with spaces for 280 car parks; and,
lResidential compound with 88 townhouses and 140 car spaces.
Nambawan Super board chairman Anthony Smare earlier said that construction was well underway and was providing more jobs and investment into skills by training local people in different skills.
Meanwhile, the K200 million Chinatown to be built next to Jack Pidik Park, 5-Mile, in Port Moresby will consist a shopping mall, restaurants, cinemas, offices and apartments which Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said was a sign of a “growing modern city”.
