Visiting scouts call in

Lae News, Normal

LAE and Buang scout’s troop were surprised when two strangers, a brother (10) and a sister (6) who were the junior scout members of Preistate Scout group of Logan district in Brisbane, Australia, paid a visit.
Shaye and Breeana Pilmer, were in Lae for their first time to visit their father, Vince who works for PNG Ports Services at Lae main wharf.
Touring Lae city last weekend, their dad drove them past Morobe Scouts Hall at Eriku.
The scouts signboard caught Shaye and Breeana’s eyes reminding them of their involvement with Logan district junior scouts.
They then thought about nine Logan scouts badges they brought with them.
They contacted a friend, the Super Value Store marketing manageress Phyonna Silikara about how they could meet Morobe scouts members and donate the badges to them as a sign of relationship.
Silikara organised for Shaye, Breeana and their parents Tess and Vince Pilmer to visit the Scouts hall yesterday.
Their visit surprised the local boys and girls scouts, who were in the Morobe show fever preparing displays items to gather immediately and welcome their two friends.
They presented nine Logan district scout badges which the embroiled badge signifying a white koala bear.
Regional Field Commissioner James Uwisa, in appreciating the family, presented a bowl from Tami Island to maintain the district scouts relationships abroad.
