Volcano victims yet to get promised land

AFTER the 1994 twin volcanic eruption, the whole Talvat village in Rabaul district was relocated  to the Sikut resettlement area and promised to be allocated to blocks afterwards.

But after 19 years, we are still waiting as nothing has been done.

What concerns me is the increase in the number of people while the land that was allocated to us is limited.

Many of us do not feel secure and are still grappling with the life we are leading and the limited options have forced many of our youths to turn to illicit means.

I call on MP Allan Marat, Komit Kunai and other authorities to do something.

There are two options.

Allocate us to our blocks as promised or extend our territory and recognise us as a village rather than a settlement.
