GRAND final spots for the National Capital District Volleyball Association premier division are up for grabs at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre on Saturday.
The women’s premier division will see Edatec Scorpions play MJ Electrical U-Mi Yet for a spot in the grand final against defending champions Telikom next weekend.
The Scorpions have been consistent throughout the season, beating Jamas in the qualifying final and losing to Telikom in a nail-biting finish.
Fourth-placed U-Mi Yet fought hard throughout the finals, eliminating Vailima and Jamas.
Scorpions’ Michelle Walo and Isa Hicks are expected to dominate at the net with big blocks.
Sweeping the back-court are Taren Walo, Ruga Aisi, Daba Lui and Irau Siniva, while Melisa Pokana will once again occupy the setting role.
Meanwhile, for U-Mi Yet, they have a balanced side in the likes of lois Garena, Emily Bae and Luana Travertz who hit well out wide.
Sopo Alsop, Wari Pala, Hitolo Raka and Annrika Garena will share the middle blocks while Patricia Hani will control the engine room with assistance from Viola Unatah.
Scorpions will have to deal with U-Mi Yet’s big blocks if they are to come away with the victory.
On the other hand, U-Mi Yet have a solid attacking combination but they will need to contain Walo and Hicks at the net.
In the men’s qualifying final, Scorpions will do battle with Telikom.
The stingers are fresh from winning the men’s club championship last weekend and will be eager to secure a spot in the grand final against Jamas.
