SOUTHERN Confederation’s Under-20 utility Morea Voro claimed double awards for top try-scorer and points scored at the conclusion of the Telikom National Nines Championships at the National Football Stadium last week.
Voro also bagged the same titles at the Southern Provincial Championship.
Teammate Nathan Larry Saea bagged the player-of-the-tournament award.
Voro was responsible for Southern’s dominance and unbeaten run to snatch the inaugural U20 Telikom national nines shield.
“This is my first time to play in the national champs so the challenge was to perform on the field and we made it happen,” he said.
The 19-year-old said playing well and being recognised was a boost for his confidence and he looked forward to becoming a better player.
Voro said the experience was valuable and would prepare him for the national championships in August.
Voro said the team had bonded in their time together and he was looking forward to playing alongside them in the future.
Voro from Waiori village in Abau, Central, resides at the Wanigela settlement in Koki, Moresby South and looks set to be drafted into the Moresby South Blacks for the upcoming Southern Super League.
